To all:

At Donate Games, we believe the community of gamers can change the world. Games are good and gamers are good. I founded this organization on that principle.

Me? I'm not a gamer, but I've seen the power of video games firsthand. Two years ago, my 11-year-old son Taylor was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome, a rare form of Leukemia. In an attempt to save his life, our family moved from Southern California to Seattle, Washington, looking for the best care possible. We ended up living in Seattle Children's Hospital for almost a year during his chemotherapy. Taylor and the other kids at the hospital were terribly sick, scared and isolated, but video games played a big part in helping them get better.

While there, we heard about the great work being done by Child's Play and talked with the organizers of that charity. As we got to know them and met other families suffering from orphan diseases, we learned even more about how gaming helps child patients, but we also heard about the restrictions on accepting game donations for them: nothing used and only games with certain ratings could be safely passed along to the kids.

Suddenly, many things became clear. Taking our own experiences with our son Taylor and our new knowledge of game donations, we saw an opportunity for video games to do good once again, now in a completely different way.

"Why isn't there a charity that recycles used video games, reselling those games online to help the millions of sufferers of orphan diseases, fighting alone in these hospitals around the world?"

We couldn't find a single reason why not, so we created that charity ourselves.

For the past year, we have worked hard to launch Donate Games. We are proud to say that, as of today, we are officially accepting your used games. As soon as possible, we'll open the online store so that you can see what your fellow gamers have donated and make a purchase. All proceeds go to support orphan disease research, networks for patients and educational tools.

With your help, we can find cures and save lives.
